The Acushnet Emergency Management Agency (EMA) was formerly known as the Acushnet Civil Defense. The Acushnet EMA mission is the following:

• Provide auxiliary support for the town of Acushnet police, fire and other public safety agencies and town departments when requested.
• Provide support during natural and man-made disaster incidents and special events.
• Assist with the preparation, mitigation of the town departments and citizens in the town of Acushnet.
• Provide mutual-aid support for other towns and cities in the commonwealth of Massachusetts when requested.
